WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – (March 22, 2018): Spots are filling up quickly for The Greenbrier Half Marathon, which will take place May 12 at America’s Resort.
After a successful inaugural event in 2017, the race, part of the Resort Races Collection, returns to the 11,000 picturesque acres of The Greenbrier and features minimal elevation gain as runners traverse some of the country’s best golf courses with breathtaking views of the Allegheny Mountains.
“Last spring’s race was a great success,” said Dr. Jill Justice, President, The Greenbrier. “It was a wonderful morning, and everyone involved, from the racers to the volunteers, had a fantastic time. We’re thrilled that we are making this an annual event, and we are looking forward to another great race in May.”
Sure to be a sellout once again, racers have the option of running the half marathon, a 10K or a 5K. The half marathon and 10K begin at 7 a.m., with the 5K set for a 7:15 a.m. start.
The course is USATF certified, and professional photographers will be on site to provide photos for purchase. Aid stations, complete with water and sports drinks, will be set up along the course, and portable bathrooms will be stationed throughout the course route. Results will be posted in real time at resortraces.com.
Awards will be given to male and female overall and age group winners, based on chip time, and each participant will receive an exclusive finisher medal designed especially for The Greenbrier Half Marathon.
All racers are invited to the post-race champagne brunch and receive a limited edition gift. The brunch includes amazing culinary selections prepared by The Greenbrier’s award-winning culinary team, as well as a live band. Racers can relax and enjoy their accomplishments, while mingling with other participants. The party is from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., and additional tickets can be purchased for family members or friends who don’t race but wish to attend.
In addition to the gifts and the brunch, all participants can enjoy the incredible amenities offered at the resort, including a world-renowned mineral spa, America’s only private casino and 55 indoor and outdoor activities. Racers will receive discounts on restaurant selections, bunker tours and more.
