Kayleb Band began cooking in high school where he attended Pro-start at James Rumsey Technical Institute. While he attended James Rumsey, he competed in Skills USA Culinary. In his first year, he received a Silver medal. It was at this time he discovered he had a true passion for competitive cooking. During the summers, Kayleb worked at a Boy Scout Summer Camp in the dining hall. After high school, Kayleb decided to continue his education at Pierpont Community and Technical College. Kayleb graduated in 2018 with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts. While he was at Pierpont, he competed on two American Culinary Federation student teams. His second year competing, he was named the team captain. During that time, Kayleb earned three ACF silver medals. The summer before he graduated from Pierpont, Kayleb interned at The Greenbrier Hotel and Resort. At the Greenbrier, he learned about the apprenticeship Greenbrier Apprenticeship program in 2021 and has continued work at The Greenbrier as a Sous Chef. In February of 2022 Kayleb was promoted to Chef de Cuisine Tournant and assists in all kitchens at The Greenbrier.
