What was your favorite memory from your Wedding at The Greenbrier?
Our first look at the Springhouse. Seeing your spouse for the first time on the day of the wedding is something I can’t put in to words. We gave each other cards right before the first look, so we were both pretty emotional. Seeing each other helped calm our nerves and we were ready to head to the church and make it official.
How did you hear about The Greenbrier?
My family is from West Virginia, so I grew up visiting the hotel. I had a vision of our family and friends gathered on the cottage porches, enjoying each other’s company before and after the wedding. I never considered getting married anywhere else.
What was the inspiration for your décor/theme of your wedding?
A classic summer garden party.
After the wedding was over, what was your favorite detail from the wedding events?
The Greenbrier wedding team worked with my sister to organize a horse-drawn carriage ride and picnic for us the day after the wedding. We unpacked the picnic basket as we sat by Howard’s Creek to reveal details from throughout our relationship (wine from the vineyard Ben proposed at, bag from the restaurant where we had our first date, etc.) and our favorite foods. It was such a wonderful time to reflect on our wedding and talk about what the day meant to us.
How would you describe your wedding planning experience at The Greenbrier?
In one word, fantastic. I was nervous about planning a wedding long distance, since I live in Washington, D.C. Ben and I had two weekend planning trips to The Greenbrier (which were such a fun excuse to visit the hotel together), and the rest was done over email and phone calls. The wedding team truly got my vision for what I wanted, and went above and beyond with details to make the day perfect. Once I arrived at the hotel for the wedding weekend, the wedding team completely took over which allowed me to relax and enjoy the special day.
