The Greenbrier Coaches Classic

August 18 - 22, 2019


The Greenbrier is pleased to welcome you to participate in the 2nd Annual Greenbrier Coaches Classic, being hosted this August at The Greenbrier. 
Packages

Retired collegiate football coaches from across the country are invited to participate, along with a team of supporters, in a 54-hole 2 Best Ball of 4 Gross and Net competition, taking place on the newly restored Old White TPC and Meadows Course. We hope that you will be able to join us for this exciting event.

Golf has been a driving force at The Greenbrier for more than a century.  The Old White TPC was designed by noted golf course architect Charles Blair Macdonald and opened for play in 1914.  The original 9-hole Lakeside Course, designed by Alex Findlay, was expanded to an 18-hole routing by Dick Wilson in the 1950s and later upgraded in the '90s by Bob Cupp, when it offically became The Meadows.

Both courses sustained significant damage during the flood of 2016 but were meticulously restored and unveiled to the golfing world in 2017.  The Old White TPC, the host course for our PGA TOUR event, A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, has been met with critical acclaim from TOUR players and amateur golfers alike and was recognized as the Best Restored Golf Course in the United States by Golf Digest in 2017.  We look forward to hosting you on these storied courses in August.

Sunday, August 18

  • 4:00pm - 7:30pm: Registration (The Golf Club Front Porch)
  • 6:00pm - 7:30pm: Welcome Reception (The Golf Club Front Porch)
  • Evening: Dinner on your own (reservations suggested)

Monday, August 19

  • 6:30am: Breakfast Buffet (Champions Room)
  • 8:00am: First Round of Play-Shotgun Start (Meadows Course)
  • 6:30pm: Reception & Group Dinner

Tuesday, August 20

  • 6:30am: Breakfast Buffet (Champions Room)
  • 8:00am: Second Round of Play-Shotgun Start (Old White TPC)
  • 10:00am:  Spouse Tennis Clinic & Luncheon
  • Evening: Dinner on your own (reservations suggested)

Wednesday, August 21

  • 6:30am: Breakfast Buffet (Champions Room)
  • 8:00am: Final Round of Play-Shotgun Start (Old White TPC)
  • 10:00am:  Spouse Shopping Trip to Lewisburg
  • 6:30pm: Reception (Chesapeake Bay and Terrace)
  • 7:30pm: Awards Dinner (Chesapeake Bay and Terrace)

Thursday, August 22

  • 7:00am: Breakfast Buffet (Main Dining Room)

 

Official Tournament Format

  • Each team will consist of one coach and three amateur partners
  • The coach shall act as the captain for the team 
  • Current handicap information must be provided for all players
  • Tournament will be a 2 Best Balls of 4 with awards for Gross and Net Divisions
  • Awards will be provided to the winning teams in each division
 

Official Tournament Handicap Policy

  • Golfers are required to have a current registered handicap
  • Please provide GHIN number, home club and current index on registration forms
  • All handicaps will be based on the September 1st revision
  • Handicap information must be provided no later than Thursday, July 18th
  • Failure to provide handicap information will result in a 0 handicap being assigned for the event 
 

Overnight Hotel Accommodations

  • Overnight hotel accommodations are included in your tournament registration fee.
  • Entry Fee includes your daily Resort Fee. The resort fee includes the following services: Morning Coffee Service, Afternoon Tea, Historical Tours, On-Property Transportation, Wireless Internet Connectivity, Champaign Toast in The Casino Club, use of the resort’s Fitness center, Indoor and Outdoor Pools and Toll Free Phone Charges.
  • Room reservations will be made for players upon receipt of completed registration.
 

The Greenbrier Coaches Classic – Tournament Package

Amateur Participants - $5,000
Coaches – Complimentary
  • Four Nights Accommodations at The Greenbrier including daily resort fee
  • Daily Breakfast Buffet for all players and one included guest/spouse (Main Dining Room)
  • Three days of Tournament Play including: Greens Fees, Cart Rental, Forecaddie Fees, Complimentary Locker, Shoe Cleaning, Club Cleaning, Golf Bag Storage
  • Access to Private Events for Players and Spouse/Guest: Two Evening Cocktail Receptions & One Evening Dinner
  • Tournament favors, prizes, special awards and team photographs
  • All necessary taxes, fees and service charges 
 

Golf Tournament Package Deposit and Cancellation Policy

  • Tournament registrations received prior to July 18, 2019 will require a $1,500 deposit to confirm your spot in the event and your hotel accommodations. 
  • The remainder of the fees will be charged to the credit card provided on July 18, 2019.
  • Tournament registrations received after July 18, 2019 will require tournament entry fees to be paid in full.
  • If you must cancel a complete deposit refund is granted if the cancellation is made in writing by July 18, 2019. 
  • A fully paid team is required for entrance into the event and for the coach’s fees to be provided on a complimentary basis.
