4th of July Celebration

On July 4, 1776, the United States of America was officially established. Two years later, visitors came to a valley in what was then the Colony of Virginia to “take the waters” of the sulphur springs that ran through a picturesque property among the Allegheny Mountains. A resort, known as White Sulphur Springs, was soon established, and it eventually became known as The Greenbrier.

Since that time, the history of the United States and The Greenbrier have been connected in so many ways. From 28 presidential visits to a period as an Army hospital, and from a secret congressional bunker to a golf tournament that recognized the military, there’s a reason this scenic West Virginia property earned the moniker of “America’s Resort.”

The Greenbrier prides itself on celebrating its country’s birthday in grand fashion, and this year’s Independence Weekend promises to be the best one yet.
